The overall goals of the Club are to provide a safe environment for children and youth; foster development of positive relationships with adults and peers; support healthy behavior and physical well-being; strengthen academic skills; support the development of creativity and individuality; support leadership development; and foster respect for diversity.
The Boys & Girls Club of Harlem, established in 1980, is dedicated to ensuring that young people from disadvantaged economic, social, and family circumstances, who reside in Harlem, have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures.
The Club is part of a nationwide affiliation of local, autonomous organizations that work to help young people of all backgrounds develop the qualities they need to become responsible citizens and leaders. The Boys & Girls Clubs of America actively seeks to enrich the lives of youth whom other agencies fail to reach.
